This year I was lucky enough to attend the Soul Survivor festival for the second time. It was an amazing, life-changing experience and I got to spend the week with some amazing people but this year there was something different. Something that was an experience in itself and that, my friends, was Colour Chaos.
The main principle; to get yourself colourful and covered in paint. An interesting idea and one that makes for a pretty messy shower afterwards! Throwing special maize-starch powder paint in the air for it to land back on top of you in a colourful, cloudy mess may not be everyone’s cup of tea and I’ll admit that at first I was a little unsure myself but wow. It was a sight to behold. The flurries of colour whirling around, being stood in the centre of a hurricane of purples, blues and yellows was something quite spectacular. It was like being in the eye of a kaleidoscopic colour storm and it’s not something I’ll forget in a hurry.
And it’s in the crazy moments like that that you can take a moment to really be happy. Surrounded by friends and like-minded people, in the middle of a once-in-a-lifetime thing, you can really experience a childish joy. You’re throwing paint around for goodness sake! You can give yourself a moment to forget about everything else and just be in that colourful, messy moment.
So if ever you’re faced with the opportunity to be a part of a paint party, I say go for it, you won’t regret it.
