A little while back I guest blogged for Your Zen Life, a popular life and health blog run by the Australian actresses Phoebe Tonkin and Teresa Palmer.
I just thought I’d share the post with you now on my blog in case you didn’t catch it.
I decided to write about remaining positive in difficult times because at the time it was a topic that was really speaking out to me so I hope that everyone can take something from the message.
The Beauty That Remains
“I don’t think of all the misery but of the beauty that
still remains.” – Anne Frank
This quote never ceases to amaze and inspire me. If Anne
Frank, in her situation, could still view life with a positive attitude, then
why can’t we?
Looking for the good in everything is a far better way to live. We are free, we
are living, our troubles are nothing compared to what Anne Frank went through
and yet she could still see the beauty in the world.
We should wake up every day with excitement and anticipation for what lies
ahead, the day is yours to make of it what you want, you can do anything with
your day and is that not the most exciting and most empowering thing? You may
have to go to work or school but you can choose how the day will pan out. You
can make the choice to make it the happiest most joy-filled day or not. You can
make the choice to seize every opportunity as it arises and generally just
enjoy life and be in that moment in that day. Likewise, it’s also your choice to
be negative, to hate the day before it’s begun because of whatever is in it
instead of making the best of that situation.
Always count your blessings and always be thankful and grateful for all you
have, you’re luckier than you realise. The things that we take for granted are
the things that other people are praying for. The little things that we enjoy
are also sometimes the biggest in hindsight so don’t miss out on those moments.
Just look for that silver lining, look for the sunshine and the good. Think ‘I
can’ and go for it.
You can sit and wallow in your sadness or you can make the best of what you’ve
got and see the light in it. There’s so much joy and beauty around us and so
much to live for, we just have to open our eyes and see it.
We should all try to live every day with a positive mental attitude and just
love our lives that little bit more because in the end, it’s all we’ve got.
