I know what you’re thinking, ‘Ellie, you’re English, why do you celebrate the 4th of July?’
Well, due to the fact that I have a lovely friend from the USA, myself and some close family friends all get together for a day of festivities for her which always includes BBQ-ing, a swimming pool and cake a-plenty!
It’s always a wonderful day that has actually been sunny for the last couple of years (!!!) and just being surrounded by so many loved ones I’ve known for years is lovely. We laugh, eat, drink, swim, enjoy the great company and soak up the sun in our little version of Independence Day celebrations.
Here are a few photos from the event just to make an online-diary style post of the day because it’s one I’d like to remember for a long time!
The pool up and ready for use (we did add about 50 inflatables…).
American flag decorations on point!
Puddings are always the best. Oreo cheesecake, banoffee pie, fruit and my own creation known as ‘star spangled mess’.
It’s always such a wonderful summer celebration and to all American readers out there, I hope you had an amazing 4th of July!
Please do leave a comment of what you got up to and thank you for reading 🙂
